about

Club mainstay Addison Groove isn’t an artist who treads lightly when it comes to his studio output. Landing on Pretty Weird for its first drop of 2023 with ‘Eh Whut’, the Bristolian DJ/producer delivers two visceral two techno cuts with heavyweight drums and bare-bone rhythms loaded for its ignition.

‘Eh Whut’ is a lawless soundscape deployed with expert precision. Fragmented, tough drums heave the track forward, trampling the ground with a sense of regimented antagonism alongside grinding buildups that duck beneath each other and a melody that dissipates like a puff of smoke.

On the flip side, ‘Elevator’ plummets headfirst through a ravine of agitated vocals trapped between sparse drum loops. Staggering and percussive, there’s a layer of ongoing tension that seems to be itching to escape between each gasp for breath, lending itself as a break-neck tool to unexpectedly veer off the beaten track during a set.

Pretty Weird’s message for their 10th record is clear; there’s no thrill in playing it safe. Luckily, this one’s been created attentively for the purpose of disruption.

Early support from Peggy Gou, Ben UFO, Logic1000, Justin Martin, Batu, Shanti Celeste, Daphni, Saoirse, Or:la and more.
